Automated AGV System Transforms Plastic Cap Production at Emballator

MAXAGV’s FX04 and FX10 vehicles are in full operation at Emballator’s automated production site in Växjö, Sweden. The AGVs handle box and pallet transport between production, packaging, and warehouse, fully integrated with Emballator’s ERP system and pallet turntable interface. The system supports 24/7 production with an average of 400 transports per day, ensuring stable material flow and high accessibility. In operation since 2020 and expanded in 2023, Emballator now runs a fully automated and scalable logistics solution.

Equipped with navigation scanners and integrated ERP communication, the FX04 and FX10 AGVs transport boxes and pallets seamlessly across Emballator’s automated production and warehouse areas.

Four FX04 and one FX10 AGV navigate Emballator’s production and warehouse areas with precision and reliability, ensuring a fully automated flow of plastic caps from production to storage, 24 hours a day.

Intelligent Transport for Continuous Production

In Växjö, Sweden, MAXAGV’s FX-series vehicles are at the heart of Emballator’s automated production line for plastic caps.
The system was designed to handle a high-frequency material flow, automatically picking up finished goods from production, transporting them to packaging, and finally delivering completed boxes to a racking warehouse.

A Fully Automated Production Flow

Emballator is a leading Scandinavian producer of plastic packaging solutions, specializing in caps and closures for various industries.
Before automation, internal material transport relied on manual handling, leading to bottlenecks, limited traceability, and inconsistent flow between production and packaging areas.

To increase efficiency and meet their long-term automation strategy, Emballator partnered with MAXAGV to implement a flexible and scalable AGV solution, enabling a fully autonomous 24/7 production flow with continuous, predictable logistics performance.

The Challenge: Achieve 24/7 Flow and System Integration

The production facility required an AGV system capable of:

  • Managing continuous transport of boxes and pallets between production, packaging, and warehouse.
  • Operating 24/7 with minimal downtime and manual interaction.
  • Handling high-frequency flows (approximately 400 transports per day).
  • Integrating seamlessly with the customer’s ERP system and peripheral equipment such as a pallet turntable.
  • Offering scalability for future production expansion.

The Solution: FX04 and FX10 AGVs in an Integrated System

MAXAGV delivered a complete automated transport system combining two AGV models:

  • The FX04, designed for compact and dynamic movements within the production area.
  • The FX10, optimized for warehouse operations and long-distance pallet handling.

In 2020, the initial installation included three FX04 units and one FX10 for warehouse storage.
As production demands grew, the system was extended in 2023 with an additional FX04 to increase transport capacity.

All AGVs are coordinated through MAXAGV’s control software, ensuring real-time task allocation and synchronization with Emballator’s ERP system. The result is a stable, self-regulating logistics environment that supports uninterrupted production.

FX Fork AGV operates within different levels such as floors, conveyors, low & high bay racking locations and deep stacking lanes.
